President Johnson's Diary for Sunday, November 24, 1963, is very brief. Although President Johnson walked with the procession from the White House to the Capitol behind the Kennedy cortege, the Diary does not record the event. It notes that he returned from the Capitol to the Executive Office Building at 2:30 p.m., and was joined by Secretary of State Dean Rusk, Secretary of Defense Robert McNamara, CIA Director John McCone, U.S. Ambassador to South Vietnam Henry Cabot Lodge, and Undersecretary of State George Ball.
