Sat 25. [25 August 1894] Got up at 5 and swam in the lake. At 6.30 took the boat - Papa and I got out at Pertisau - so did Amy and Frl Sophie who were to catch a boat back to Scholastica [Scholastika]. Mother and the children went on. At Pertisau we found a guide waiting for us. We stopped at an inn to get provisions - the church bell began to ring - out came the Geistlicher wrapping his coat round him, [one word illegible - hole in page] back his curls and stepping down the road with a great air. He made me an elegant bow and I got up and followed him to his little church where I said a prayer for B [Billy Lascelles[?]]. Up the mountain - the Stanzer Joch - reached the top about 11 and lunched. Then came down pretty fast into the Inn Thal [Unter-inn-tal] and reached Schwatz [Schwaz] about 1. Fearfully hot! Home by train and tram to find it was 80° in the shade. I found 4 kinds of gentians - see next page. Hot bath - heavenly! and to sleep for 2 hours. After dinner read Swift's letters to Mother. [Three pressed gentians attached to page.]
Sun. 26. [26 August 1894] Horrid cold - felt rather miserable. Elsa and I did history and I translated Algheyas. Very hot. After tea went down to Innsbrück to see the Bauernfest - rather amusing to see all the old peasant costumes some of them of the time of the 100 Years' War. Ugly people and most of them small. We dined in town and so home in the dusk. The Grosse Berge Beleuchtung was not very lovely. Talked with Mother on the balcony.
